Founded in 1947, The Phoenix Symphony proudly serves more than 300,000 people annually, with 275 concerts and presentations throughout the Valley of the Sun and beyond. The 76-member Phoenix Symphony’s annual season, from September through May, features classical and pops concerts in Phoenix, along with a variety of symphonic presentations in Scottsdale, Prescott, and other central Arizona communities. Each season, the Symphony performs for more than 80,000 students and children (representing over 260 different schools), introducing music to new generations through a variety of education, community, and youth-engagement programs.
As Arizona's only full-time, professional orchestra, The Phoenix Symphony operates on an annual budget of more than $11 million, of which ticket revenues cover approximately 40%. Remaining funds are provided through the generosity and vision of thousands of individuals, corporations, and foundations. The Symphony also receives important support through public funding provided from the area's citizens via the Arizona Commission on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Phoenix Office of Arts & Culture, and other governmental departments.
A strong corps of over 500 volunteers help support the Symphony each year, including the Friends’ Gift Shop and the annual Symphony Black & White Gala.

Forty years ago, quality professional theatre for the people of Arizona was just a dream. Today the Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) is recognized as one of the most dynamic theatres in the country.
Founded Sandy Rosenthal in 1967 as the Arizona Civic Theatre, ATC achieved professional status in 1972, when it began hiring Actors' Equity performers on a modified League of Resident Theater (LORT) contract. The Arizona Civic Theatre began presenting a portion of its season in Phoenix in 1978, and a year later the name was changed to the Arizona Theatre Company.
As the professional resident theatre of Arizona, ATC has performed full seasons in both Phoenix and Tucson to a combined audience of more than 150,000 since 1983. This success in building audience support, fiscal stability and its excellent management and production of full performance seasons in two cities earned ATC citation as a national model for professional performing arts institutions
One of the founding precepts of non-profit theatres such as ATC is that ticket prices will always be kept within reach of all members of the community; therefore ticket revenues are not meant to cover total operating costs. The remaining balance must be raised through contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations and through grants from government agencies.
ATC’s impressive national reputation attracts some of the nation's most respected and talented theatre professionals. Most visible are the actors in ATC performances as well as television, films, and the stages of Broadway and other regional theaters.
ATC productions are renowned for their technical elements. The costume, scene and property shops build virtually all the costumes, sets and props used in ATC productions. Behind the scenes, the ATC operation is kept moving by a small administrative staff of box office, accounting, fund-raising, marketing and management specialists.
In the past 41 seasons, ATC has produced more than 200 plays, from the classics of Shakespeare, Shaw and Moliere to the works of contemporary writers such as Shepard, Stoppard and Fugard. ATC has also committed itself to the development and presentation of new works both on the mainstage and through special programs.
ATC is actively involved in numerous educational and outreach programs in its various communities in an effort to increase public awareness of ATC and cultivate current and future audience interest and support. ATC performs in the state-of-the-art Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix, and in Tucson's historic Temple of Music and Art.
